Standings & Power Rankings

League/conference/division standings, SOS, ranking edits, and Discord posts.

Standings

Open Standings and choose:

  • League for all teams.
  • Conference for AFC/NFC groupings.
  • Division for divisional tables.

Standings use imported win/loss/tie data and stored team context. Strength of schedule is calculated from stored opponents and results.

Playoff Machine

Open Playoff Machine from the league sidebar. It is public, Madden-only, and does not change the league’s real scores or standings.

Use Export bracket to preview and download a 1600×900 JPEG of the current projected AFC and NFC bracket. The graphic includes first-round byes, wild-card matchups, projected records, and the NFL reseeding path, and reflects every score in the current scenario.

  1. Choose a franchise season and Week 1–18.
  2. Enter both scores for an unplayed game, or select a team to give it a one-point projected win.
  3. Review the projected AFC/NFC seeds, wild-card matchups, full conference order, and the tiebreak reason shown beneath tied teams.
  4. Select Copy scenario link to share the current season, week, and projected scores.
  5. Use Clear week to remove one week’s entries or Reset scenario to remove every projection.

Completed games are locked. Equal projected scores count as ties, while a game with only one score entered remains undecided. The machine follows NFL division and wild-card tiebreak rules using stored Madden schedules and results.

Historical win/loss/tie records come from the latest stored standings snapshot for that regular season. Head-to-head and other matchup tiebreakers require the stored games. When a historical schedule is incomplete or disagrees with its snapshot, the page warns that the projection is approximate and may use Madden’s imported rank as a fallback. Commissioner-edited Power Rankings never affect playoff seeding.

Fix standings

  1. Confirm the franchise standings are correct in Madden.
  2. Import League Info and standings/team data.
  3. Import missing completed games if strength of schedule is wrong.
  4. Choose the correct season/stage filters.
  5. Reload the page.

A manual game correction may affect calculated views but can be overwritten by another import.

If the team column is blank and team pages cannot be opened, the teams are missing their abbreviation, which every team link is built from. This happens when a league’s standings were imported before its teams. Run a League Info import from Import Center to fill the abbreviations in; teams that already have one keep it.

Discord standings

Use /standings all, /standings conference, or /standings division with supported options. The bot reads the same NeonSportz standings data.

Power Rankings

Open Rankings. Each team has current and previous rank context. Authorized commissioners can reorder the list.

To edit:

  1. Sign in with Edit League/Admin permission.
  2. Open Rankings.
  3. Use the up/down controls to move teams.
  4. Review the complete order.
  5. Select Save.
  6. Reload to verify persistence.

Post rankings to Discord

  1. Configure Power Rankings Channel under Administration → Discord.
  2. Use its test action.
  3. Edit and save rankings.
  4. Use the rankings page’s Discord-post action when ready.

If Auto-post Power Rankings on Advance is enabled, the full list posts when the league advances. Leave it disabled when commissioners want to edit the rankings before posting.

Weekly rankings analysis

Each time the league advances, NeonSportz writes a short column about the new rankings: who rose, who fell, and which results caused it. It appears above the board on the Rankings page, and is posted to the Power Rankings channel as well when one is configured.

It is written from that week’s snapshot and that week’s results only, and it does not repeat the board — the ordered list is already published beside it. One column is kept per week; re-importing or regenerating a week replaces it rather than adding a second.

Turn it on with Auto-Generate Power Rankings Analysis under Administration → Game Settings. It is off unless you ask for it, and the page half works whether or not a Discord channel is set.

After enabling it, use Generate & send now beside the toggle to send the current week’s analysis immediately. Missing analysis is generated; existing analysis is reposted without rewriting it. Set a Power Rankings Channel first. The same action is available for game previews and recaps beside their toggles.

When analysis is disabled, importing league info or the current week’s stats posts a notice in the configured Power Rankings channel explaining which setting to enable. This also works when the week has not advanced. Current matchup channels and threads receive similar notices for disabled game previews or recaps; creating a matchup channel or thread also checks these settings. Notices skip features that already have game text, and previews for played games. Unchanged notices have a seven-day cooldown per channel and league week; clearing the notification cache can allow another notice sooner. Historical imports do not notify old matchup channels. Enabling AI stops the disabled notices; a notice does not enable AI or generate text itself.

Commissioner edits to the order are reflected the next time the column is written, not retroactively — a column already published describes the rankings as they stood when it was written.

Rankings troubleshooting

  • Cannot reorder: you need Edit League/Admin.
  • Save does not persist: reload and check the displayed error; do not keep moving rows in a stale tab.
  • Discord post missing: re-select/test the rankings channel and bot permissions.
  • Auto-post sent old ranks: turn off auto-post and use the manual post after edits.
  • No analysis on the Rankings page: the week has not been written yet — it is produced when the league advances. Check Auto-Generate Power Rankings Analysis is on under Administration → Game Settings — it is off unless you turned it on.
  • Previous rank seems wrong: previous rank reflects stored ranking history, not EA standings.
  • Playoff Machine warns about incomplete data: import the full schedule and standings. Older seasons cannot recover games that were never stored.
