Madden Notification Channels

Every event channel, test workflow, baseline behavior, mentions, and troubleshooting.

Open notification settings

In the Madden league, open Administration → Discord with Edit League/Admin permission.

Watch the Discord notifications tutorial.

Channel settings

  • Advance Week Channel: league stage/week update.
  • Transactions Channel: detected signing, release, or trade events. Import team rosters and free agents to establish a baseline; later imports compare against the latest saved roster, including earlier imports in the same Madden week.
  • Schedule Update Channel: schedule changes.
  • Position Changes Channel: player position changes.
  • Physical Changes Channel: age, weight, or height changes.
  • Attribute Changes Channel: rating/attribute changes.
  • Dev Upgrades Channel: development upgrades.
  • Ability Changes Channel: ability changes.
  • Injuries Channel: injury updates.
  • Player Suspensions Channel: issued, resolved, and reinstated player suspensions. Real suspension updates mention the member currently assigned to the suspension’s recorded team; channel tests do not mention anyone.
  • Dev Limits Channel: offense/defense Superstar/X-Factor limit overages.
  • League News Channel: news posts.
  • Power Rankings Channel: full rankings posts.
  • Players of the Week Channel: automatic Players of the Week reveal once the week’s stats finish importing.
  • Pick’em Channel: automatic Pick’em voting post (including the Game of the Week reveal) each time the league advances. Requires Auto-post Pick’em on Advance and unlocked Pick’em.
  • Pick’em Results Channel: automatic results for the previous week’s Pick’em, posted each time the league advances.
  • Weekly Recap Channel: an AI-generated recap of the week’s games, posted automatically once the week’s stats finish importing. Requires AI generation to be configured for your league.
  • Discord Errors Channel: delivery/command error reporting.

Trade Pending, Approved, and Denied channels plus the mention role live under Administration → Trade Settings.

Position-change request channels and the optional pending-request mention role are configured under Administration → Position Changes. Pending requests include approve/deny buttons for members with Edit League/Admin permission; the final result is posted to the configured outcome channel.

Other Discord settings

  • Auto-post Power Rankings on Advance: sends rankings immediately after advance. Leave off if commissioners edit ranks first.
  • Auto-post Pick’em on Advance: enables automatic voting posts in the configured Pick’em channel. Leave off to post manually with /games pickem.
  • Discord Time Zone: converts displayed event times in Discord.
  • Default Game Channel/Thread Message: initial message for created matchup spaces.

Configure a channel

  1. Create or choose a dedicated Discord channel.
  2. Confirm the bot can view/send/embed there.
  3. Select it in NeonSportz.
  4. Save the field.
  5. Choose Test.
  6. Confirm the test arrives in the exact channel.
  7. Repeat for every event type in use.

Do not assume one successful channel proves access to other private channels.

How import notifications are generated

Many Madden notifications depend on a before/after comparison:

  1. Import team rosters and free agents to establish a baseline.
  2. Madden data changes.
  3. A later roster/league/schedule import detects the difference.
  4. NeonSportz queues the Discord notification.
  5. The bot posts to the configured channel.

Roster change notifications compare the current import with the last saved roster, including an earlier import in the same Madden week. Unchanged syncs do not repeat the same changes. The first import establishes a baseline; sync regularly afterward to capture player movement.

Normal one-year age increases are not posted to Discord, including at the end of the playoffs. Other age edits, height changes, and weight changes still use the physical changes channel.

Notification did not arrive

  1. Confirm the event actually appears on NeonSportz.
  2. Confirm the correct import ran after the change.
  3. Confirm that event’s exact channel is configured.
  4. Run its test.
  5. Confirm the channel was not deleted/recreated; a recreated channel has a new ID.
  6. Confirm bot permissions.
  7. Inspect Discord Errors Channel. When the bot could not reach the channel a notification was addressed to, the message there names that channel’s ID and which of the two it was — deleted, or invisible to the bot. Both are fixed from your league’s Discord notification settings.
  8. For missing transaction events, confirm team rosters and free agents had been imported before the change. The baseline may be from the same week; an initial import cannot reconstruct earlier movement.

Scores did not update

Game scores are sent whenever a game’s score or its status changes. A score that EA corrects after the game is already marked played is treated as a change and posted again, so the channel reflects the correction rather than the first number EA sent.

Duplicate notifications

NeonSportz deduplicates identical outgoing payloads, but repeated distinct imports/changes can create multiple events. Avoid running overlapping imports while investigating.

Mentions

Trade settings can select a role to mention on pending trades. The bot must be able to mention that role under Discord configuration. Avoid using broad mentions unless league policy requires them.
