Madden Notification Channels

Every event channel, test workflow, baseline behavior, mentions, and troubleshooting.

Open notification settings

In the Madden league, open Administration → Discord with Edit League/Admin permission.

Watch the Discord notifications tutorial.

Trade Pending, Approved, and Denied channels plus the mention role live under Administration → Trade Settings.

Position-change request channels and the optional pending-request mention role are configured under Administration → Position Changes. Pending requests include approve/deny buttons for members with Edit League/Admin permission; the final result is posted to the configured outcome channel.

Other Discord settings

  • Auto-post Power Rankings on Advance: sends rankings immediately after advance. Leave off if commissioners edit ranks first.
  • Discord Time Zone: converts displayed event times in Discord.
  • Default Game Channel/Thread Message: initial message for created matchup spaces.

Configure a channel

  1. Create or choose a dedicated Discord channel.
  2. Confirm the bot can view/send/embed there.
  3. Select it in NeonSportz.
  4. Save the field.
  5. Choose Test.
  6. Confirm the test arrives in the exact channel.
  7. Repeat for every event type in use.

Do not assume one successful channel proves access to other private channels.

How import notifications are generated

Many Madden notifications depend on a before/after comparison:

  1. First import establishes baseline.
  2. Madden data changes.
  3. A later roster/league/schedule import detects the difference.
  4. NeonSportz queues the Discord notification.
  5. The bot posts to the configured channel.

No later import means no detected change.

Notification did not arrive

  1. Confirm the event actually appears on NeonSportz.
  2. Confirm the correct import ran after the change.
  3. Confirm that event’s exact channel is configured.
  4. Run its test.
  5. Confirm the channel was not deleted/recreated; a recreated channel has a new ID.
  6. Confirm bot permissions.
  7. Inspect Discord Errors Channel.
  8. Check that the event was not simply a first-import baseline.

Duplicate notifications

NeonSportz deduplicates identical outgoing payloads, but repeated distinct imports/changes can create multiple events. Avoid running overlapping imports while investigating.

Mentions

Trade settings can select a role to mention on pending trades. The bot must be able to mention that role under Discord configuration. Avoid using broad mentions unless league policy requires them.
