Previews, Summaries & Recap Graphics
Generate, review, batch, download, and troubleshoot game/draft graphics and text.
Three different outputs
- Preview: pregame content based on the matchup and stored league data.
- Summary: postgame generated text based on the completed result and available statistics.
- Recap: visual/statistical postgame presentation, including downloadable graphics.
They require different game states. A scheduled game can have a preview, while player tabs, summaries, and recaps generally require completed data.
Open a preview
- Open Games → Schedule.
- Select a matchup.
- Choose Preview.
- Review teams, schedule context, and generated content.
If it is empty, verify the matchup and imported team data.
Open a summary
- Import the completed game’s statistics.
- Open the game.
- Confirm score and completed status.
- Choose Summary.
- Wait for generation if the action starts on demand.
- Review the result before sharing.
Generated text can be incomplete or inaccurate. Treat it as draft content and compare it with the box score.
Generating previews and summaries automatically
These are off unless you turn them on. Open Administration → Game Settings and switch on the ones you want. Once on, nobody has to open the game and press Generate.
- A preview is written when you create a game’s thread or channel with
/game-threadsor/game-channels, and posted straight into it. Making the channel is the signal that the matchup is one people will talk about, so nothing is written for games nobody has set up yet. - A summary is written for each finished game once that game’s statistics have been imported, and posted to the same thread or channel. Each game is handled on its own, so summaries appear as games are played rather than waiting for the whole week.
Both need the game to have a thread or channel. Creating one with
/game-threads or /game-channels is what marks a matchup as one your league
is following, and it is where the text goes. Games nobody set up are left
alone; you can still write a preview or summary for any game yourself with the
Generate button on the game page.
Nothing is ever overwritten. If a game already has a preview or summary — because someone pressed Generate, or wrote their own, or the week was imported twice — it is left exactly as it is.
To turn either on or off, open Administration → Game Settings and switch Auto-Generate Game Previews or Auto-Generate Game Recaps. The Generate buttons on the game page keep working either way, so a league that leaves both off can still write a preview or recap for any individual game.
Auto-Generate Power Rankings Analysis is on the same page. It writes a short column each week explaining the new rankings, which appears on the Rankings page and is posted to your power rankings channel when one is set.
How long the text is
A preview runs about 120-180 words and an automatic recap about 180-300. Generating one by hand from the game page lets you choose Short, Medium or Long instead, which are roughly 100-160, 180-300 and 400-600 words.
The same caution applies as to anything generated: treat it as draft content and compare it with the box score before relying on it.
Game recap
- Open a completed game.
- Choose Recap.
- Review score, teams, leaders, and available recap layout.
- Generate or download the recap graphic.
- Inspect the downloaded image before posting.
Image generation occurs in the browser and may take longer on mobile.
Teambuilder teams are supported in individual and batch recap graphics, including matchups against standard NFL teams. Recaps use imported team names, custom logos, scores, and available player statistics. If a stadium or background image cannot load, the graphic uses a plain background; unavailable logos are omitted. Missing optional branding does not prevent downloading or sharing the recap.
Batch Game Recaps
Authorized commissioners can open Administration → Game Recaps.
- Choose Season.
- Choose Stage.
- Choose Week.
- Decide whether to show usernames on recap graphics.
- Load the matching games.
- Generate/download the supported recap set.
Use this after all games and statistics for the week are final.
Banner Maker
The league Banner Maker creates shareable league graphics using supported layouts and stored data. Review text, images, and team branding before download. A graphic does not update league settings automatically.
Draft recap graphic
The Draft page provides a separate recap/download workflow based on imported draft selections. See Records and Draft.
Troubleshooting graphics
- Missing player/team data: import rosters and statistics first.
- Wrong score: correct/import the game before generating.
- Blank image: wait for images/fonts to load and retry in a modern desktop browser.
- Download fails on mobile: allow downloads/sharing or use desktop.
- Usernames wrong: correct team-member assignments before batch generation.
- Summary is inaccurate: compare with box score and do not publish unreviewed generated text.
