Focused commissioner tutorials

Roster snapshots and comparison reports

The player history page can save a league-wide checkpoint of the current rosters and compare it with the live roster later. This is useful for tracking development increases, OVR changes, trades, holdouts, manual development, and compensatory-pick decisions.

Save a checkpoint

  1. Open any player’s History tab in the league.
  2. In Roster Snapshots, select Save Snapshot.
  3. Add an optional label such as Start of Season, Before Free Agency, or After Draft.
  4. Save the checkpoint after the roster import you want to preserve.

Snapshots capture the league roster, including free agents, and the total roster value for every team at that moment. The stored data does not change when a later Madden import updates current players.

Compare a checkpoint

Select a saved snapshot from Compare with snapshot. The report shows players added, removed, moved between teams, or changed since the checkpoint. Use the status filter to focus on changed, added, removed, or all players. The report includes OVR, development, and trade-value deltas, plus current versus snapshot roster value for each team.

Retention and permissions

  • Any joined league member can save and view snapshots.
  • Each league retains at most 25 snapshots.
  • A user can create one snapshot per hour and five per rolling 24 hours in a league.
  • When the league reaches 25 snapshots, an Edit League/Admin user must delete an old checkpoint before another can be saved.
  • Deleting a snapshot is permanent and removes only that snapshot’s stored player and team records.

Safe commissioner habits

  1. Grant the smallest permission needed.
  2. Verify league abbreviation before every administrative action.
  3. Import or edit one data domain at a time.
  4. Reload after saving.
  5. Test Discord channels immediately after changing them.
  6. Use targeted repairs before destructive resets.
  7. Export important data before major season/franchise changes.

Position-change requests

Position-change requests let a team owner document a requested Madden position change and get an administrator decision before making the change in Madden.

Configure requests

In Administration → Position Changes:

  1. Enable position-change requests for the league.
  2. Choose the pending, approved, and denied Discord channels.
  3. Optionally choose the Discord role to mention on new pending requests.
  4. Confirm the bot can view, send, and embed in each selected channel.

The approval is a NeonSportz record and notification. Madden remains the source of truth for the actual roster position, so import rosters after the change is made in-game.

Submit a request

  • In NeonSportz, open Position Changes directly above Trades in the league sidebar, choose a player from your assigned team, and select the requested position. The link appears only while position-change requests are enabled.
  • In Discord, run /position-change, choose one of your rostered players from autocomplete, choose the target position, and optionally provide the league abbreviation.

Only the joined league member assigned to the player’s current team can submit the request. League administrators cannot submit requests on behalf of another team.

Decide a request

Members with Edit League/Admin permission can approve or deny a pending request from NeonSportz or the buttons on its pending Discord message. The requester receives a NeonSportz notification, and the result is posted to the configured approved or denied channel.

Source of truth

Madden remains the source for franchise rosters, schedules, standings, games, and statistics. NeonSportz remains the source for site memberships, permission bits, trade requests/votes, custom awards, news, recruitment, visual customization, Discord channel configuration, and fantasy scoring.

Knowing which system owns a value tells you whether to import it or edit it.
