Watch the Discord connection tutorial.
Verify installation
- Bot appears in the Discord member list.
- NeonSportz can list the server during setup.
- A read-only slash command appears after typing
/. - Administration → Discord can load channel choices.
Discord can take time to synchronize newly installed application commands.
Application-command access
In Discord:
- Open Server Settings.
- Open Integrations.
- Select NeonSportz.
- Review command access by role, member, and channel.
- Ensure intended roles have Use Application Commands.
- Ensure the current channel permits the integration.
If no one can see commands, start here.
Bot channel permissions
For normal messages/notifications, the bot typically needs:
- View Channel.
- Send Messages.
- Embed Links.
- Attach Files when a graphic is posted.
- Read Message History where Discord requires it.
For channels:
- Manage Channels.
- Manage Roles/permissions only as required by Discord channel overwrites.
For threads:
- Create Public/Private Threads as applicable.
- Send Messages in Threads.
- Manage Threads for update/delete workflows.
User command permissions
Some commands check the acting Discord user’s permissions:
- Game-channel commands require Manage Channels.
- Game-thread commands require Manage Threads.
/settings gamerequires Administrator.
Command reference pages show the exact documented requirement.
Role hierarchy
Discord role hierarchy can block the bot from managing a role or permission overwrite even when the permission toggle is enabled. Place the bot role high enough to manage the commissioner role/access it must assign, but do not grant unnecessary administrator access.
Bot was removed
- Open Connect Your League/Dynasty.
- Choose Invite.
- Reauthorize it.
- Refresh the server list.
- Re-test commands and channels.
Existing notification channel IDs can remain stored, but permissions must be re-established.
Troubleshooting
- Server missing: use the correct administrator Discord account, install bot, refresh.
- Commands missing: inspect Integrations and Use Application Commands.
- Bot cannot post: grant View/Send/Embed in that channel.
- Cannot create private spaces: inspect Manage Channels/Threads and role hierarchy.
- Unknown service: run in the connected server or supply abbreviation.
